The Committee

What Are We For?

The Finance Committee reviews funding requests from student organizations and makes recommendations to the Student Congress. After The Finance Committee has reviewed a request, it can

  • amend it -- committee modifies the request
  • report it favorably -- committee recommends that the Congress pass the request
  • report it unfavorably -- committee recommends that the Congress does not pass the request
  • report it without prejudice -- committee cannot reach a consensus

Does the Congress usually take the committee's recommendations? In an overwhelming majority of the cases -- yes.

Our Modus Operandi

This document follows Title V of the Student Code and attempts to explain the financial law in layman's terms. It elaborates on the inner workings of the Finance Committee, the Student Congress, and the office of the Student Body Treasurer. It also touches on some of the more frequently-asked questions. It is an easy read, I highly recommend it.
